At the beginning of 2012, B A Boyle & Son LTD had the pleasure of winning this period style restoration contract. This project was very special, the renovation included a beautiful historical house with all its outbuildings and grounds.

During the initial stages, it became apparent many years had passed since any form of structural survey or work had been carried out. Our customers expressed a strong desire to maintain the history of the house, while incorporating a contemporary and modern design. Therefore, adding a vast frameless glass extension to the rear of the property gave a spacious open plan kitchen/diner.

The work we carried out was extensive, every floor in the property was excavated and replaced with adequate, insulated foundations. Underfloor heating and smart home systems were fitted throughout the complex. We had the property sand blasted, fully restoring the original look of the external brickwork. After 16 months of meticulous and dedicated workmanship, this once tired property was beaming with life. Our clients were overjoyed with the end result and we hope they have many happy years in their new home.

During the initial survey we discovered 2 major problems with the property.

The structural timber making up the internal walls and roof were heavily infested with woodworm and dry rot.

Solution: Due to the severity of the infestation, we had no choice but to completely strip the roof and replace the structure with a new, traditionally built hand cut roof.

Asbestos was uncovered on both the ground and first floor.

Solution: Unfortunately, because of the health risk surrounding asbestos we had no choice but to close the site. While we instructed a professional removals company to safely dispose of the asbestos.
